Lawn Master Work at the London 2012 Olympics
31st Jul 2012
Over the past few days, we have been lucky enough to have had the once in a lifetime experience of working at the Olympic Stadium and training grounds in London.
“We need experienced turf professionals..”
Earlier in the year, the Olympics organisers made contact regarding highly experienced staff members we had available to be supplied at the football training grounds for the 2012 Olympics.
Alix Ramsier of Croydon being nearest to the site offered his experience as an ex Chelsea F.C Assistant Head Groundsman, prior to starting his Lawn Master business in Caterham and Croydon.
Alix is the third groundsman from the Premier League football background to join Lawn Master over the past few years. The first being Andy Lloyd in St Albans from Arsenal F.C who operates in North London, and then Jon Eves in Bromley, another Assistant Head Groundsman from Chelsea F.C training grounds in Cobham.
Being aware of the quality of the groundsmen and greenkeepers that Lawn Master recruit gave the specialist grounds team a large choice of experts.
Team GB, Senegal and Brazil..
Delighted with the task offered, he agreed to offer his time for as long as required, simply because the experience would be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
The last of the hectic days of preparation ended on Monday 30th July, three days after the opening ceremony.
“The whole experience made me feel proud to be British. A thoroughly enjoyable experience was had“
“It was a pleasure to work with a dedicated professional team of the best turf professionals in the UK, and a privilege to be asked to join them. The whole experience made me feel proud to be British. Getting to watch the teams play was also a big plus!”
Alix worked as a groundsman for 8 years, including 5 years at Chelsea F.C, where he helped maintain 40 football pitches. He started his Lawn Master franchise in March 2012 and is already one of the most recommended Lawn Master outlets.
