Lawn Master was established in the 1990s by Bob Underhill and his wife Rachel as a family business with the intention of providing a professional lawn care and treatment service to domestic properties along the North Wales coast.
Lawn Master is still owned by Bob and Rachel Underhill, with the head office based in St Asaph, North Wales where Bob was born.
For the past 26 years, Lawn Master has been providing professional lawn care services and expanding across the UK with a big difference. The difference being that we insist that all of our franchisees are pre-experienced turf industry professionals.
It’s very important to us that our customers have a highly qualified turf professional care for their lawn to get the best results possible.

As one of the longest established lawn care companies in the UK, we have grown from our base in North Wales to offer our services nationwide by qualified and experienced professionals.
Lawn Master was established in the 1990s as a family business with the intention of providing a professional lawn care and treatment service to domestic properties along the North Wales coast.
After 4 years of successful trading and growth, Lawn Master started franchising the business with a Unique Selling Point – to only allow experienced and qualified turf professionals to join the network.
Paul Chilvers established one of Lawn Master's first franchisees and is now nearing his 20th year in the franchise network. As well as running his own Lawn Master Franchise in Norfolk, Paul also offers franchise support to many of our franchisees.
Lawn Master launched the Regener8 quick lawn system in 2008 as a way of restoring lawns back to full health for as little as a quarter of the cost of re-turfing. It was the first service of its kind, and numerous lawn companies have since attempted to copy it as a result of its success. Since launching Regener8, we have continuously refined our exclusive dressing which is key to its success.
In 2010, Lawn Master became the first lawn company in the UK to achieve the ISO 9001 accreditation. The standard demonstrates how Lawn Master and the franchise network operates by having standardised systems in place. We are the only national lawn care company to hold this certification of standard.
In 2012, our staff were recruited to help prepare the pitches for the London 2012 Summer Olympics. Our team led the grounds staff on a daily basis, preparing three training pitches for Team GB, Senegal and Brazil.
In 2016, Lawn Master became the first lawn company in the UK to achieve the ISO 14001 accreditation. The standard demonstrates our responsible attitude towards the environment with regards to how Lawn Master operates. We are the only national lawn care company to hold this certification of standard.
Colin Parish, who became the 40th Master Greenkeeper in 2005 started operating his Lawn Master outlet in the Lake District in 2017. Master Greenkeeper certification is awarded to only people of the highest level of greenkeeping experience and knowledge following a rigorous three-stage programme.
2018 saw six new turf professionals join the Lawn Master franchise network, all of which had worked in the turf industry for their entire career. The new areas covered included as high north as North Aberdeenshire and as far south as Ashford in Kent.
In 2023, we celebrated 25 years of providing professional lawn care services. We want to express our gratitude to each of our customers over the years. Thank you for trusting us with your lawn and allowing us to help you achieve a lush, healthy lawn that you can be proud of.
