RHS Hampton Court Palace 2013: A Review
17th Jul 2013
A lot of us have just got back to work this week after spending the last few days at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
What a fantastic week we have had. Over the past few weeks, we were praying that the weather would hold out to result in a good turn out. Thankfully, it was boiling hot throughout the week, so the show was a greater success than most people would have thought of.
We were quite shocked at how far some people had travelled to attend this show. We expected the furthest distance that people would travel would be around 100 miles, yet some people had travelled well in access of 200 miles distance.
Some far-away areas where people wanted quotes included York and Cumbria. There were two couples from Norway and Canada who also wanted a quotation. They are a bit too far to travel to unfortunately!
“I want a lawn like the Wimbledon courts or St Mellion Golf Course.”
We talked to all sorts of interesting people over the week with various questions about their lawn and about where we have worked before. As we mention a lot in our marketing material about where we have worked before, people often like to compare how their lawn could look in comparison to the quality of the grounds where our greenkeepers worked prior.
People seemed to be in a very good mood throughout the week and many were keen on achieving a lawn like the Wimbledon courts (before they’ve had 2 weeks of use!) Maybe it’s because Andy Murray won Wimbledon a few days earlier!
We had some special banners made with before and after photos of some of our work. We placed these on the outside corners of the stand to gain maximum attention. They proved to be an invaluable part of the stand, turning heads every time people walked past.
On BBC 2
BBC 2 were showing programmes every night of the show, interviewing certain people at various stands. One of the camera crews were filming a flower strand opposite our stand, so Kevin and Rich who were on our stand that day decided to try and get themselves on TV. Did you spot us?
For our first year at this large flower show, we have overall been impressed with how it turned out. We have gained a lot of potential work and our feedback was overall very positive.
