Jon’s Background

I have worked in the turf/golf industry for almost 15 years, and have prepared football pitches for a whole host of Premier League stars including work at the following locations:

• Dartford Golf Club, where I originally started training while studying for my BTEC Diploma at Hadlow College in Tunbridge.
• Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, where I was Assistant Groundsman at the training ground and at White Hart Lane.
• Gillingham Football Club, where I spent a year as Head Groundsman.
• Chelsea Football Club, where I spent six years as Assistant Head Groundsman at the club’s Cobham training ground. Alix Ramsier worked alongside me.

At Chelsea, I helped oversee a team of ten groundstaff in the day-to-day maintenance of 42 natural grass pitches which were built, maintained and presented to the highest standards.

Jon’s Achievements

It was a privilege to prepare playing surfaces for some of the world’s best footballers, and I was able to develop skills in all aspects of turf management.

In addition to the practical work, I also undertook qualifications in leadership and management and spent time training and supervising apprentices and work experience students as part of my role.

I found passing on skills to the next generation of turf management extremely rewarding.

With all of my experience, I can help you with any issues your lawn has including, but not limited to:

I will explain what type of fertiliser is best suited for your lawn, as all lawns are different, therefore require different feeds programmes. I will also advise you of the best method to control difficult weeds.

I have observed pockets of Chafer Grub and Leatherjacket infestation in lawns in the Bromley area. I can identify turf pests and recommend the best course of action to prevent damage to your lawn.

If moss is a problem in your lawn, I can control it more effectively with a combination of aeration and top-dressing methods.
