Growth Retardants
Trinexapac-ethyl is the active ingredient in growth retardants. It works by redirecting plant growth. It specifically targets the gibberellic acid site, which is responsible for cell elongation in turf grass.
The product has been well established in the sports industry for a number of years and is now regularly used by home owners too.
This product inhibits vertical growth and diverts plant growth downwards into the root system, to produce increased food reserves and lateral stem development. This in turn, produces a thicker, more healthier sward that better equips the turf to withstand temperature extremes, moisture loss, traffic and wear.
We can use this product on all well-maintained quality turf grass areas. It can also be used to help manage areas which are difficult to cut, such as steep banks. Growth retardants provide the following benefits:

Growth Retardant Application
The programme can be commenced at any stage of the growing season, but ideally should start at the onset of spring growth and continue whilst grass is actively growing.
